This is the last will and testament
of me Edward Pennyfather of Friern Barnet in the county of Middlesex gentleman being in good
health and of sound mind memory and understanding ffirst and principally I [     ] my soul
into the hands of almighty God who gave it me and my body I commit to the earth to be
[     ] interred at the discretion of my executrix and executors hereinafter named and as to
such worldly estate wherewith it hath pleased God to blefs and I give devise and bequeath the
same as follows I direct all my just debts funeral and testamentary expenses to be paid as soon
as conveniently may be after my decease I give and bequeath unto my dear wife Joyce Filt
Pennyfather all my household furniture plate linen & china to and for her own absolute
use and benefit I give devise and bequeath unto William Green of no. 10 Huggin Lane London
coal dealer and James Beale of Chaple Street Mayfair in the said county of Middlesex Iron
Monger my executors hereinafter named and the survivor of them all and singular my freehold
copyhold and leasehold estates situate and being at Friern Barnet aforesaid and Huggin
Lane and Pennyfathers Rents London together with all the residue of my personal estate
and effects whatsoever and wheresoever and of what nature or kind upon trust to
protect and suffer my said wife during her life to survive and take the [    fs] ifsues and profile
thereof to and for her own absolute use and benefit and as soon as conveniently can be
after her decease to sell and dispose of my said freehold copyhold and leasehold Estates
either by public auction or private contract for the most money that can be obtained for the
same and also to collect get in and [     ] all the residue of my personal estate and effects
and out of the monies arising thereby to pay and dispose of the same in manner
following (that is to say) unto Mary Waldon wife of Samuel Waldon of Upper Sapey near
Stanford in the county of Hereford the sum of fifty pounds to and for her own sole
use and benefit but in case the said Mary Waldon shall depart this life in the life
time of my said wife I direct that the said sum of fifty pounds shall be equally
divided between and amongst all and every the child and children of the said Mary
Waldon who shall be living at the time of her decease I give and bequeath unto Sarah
Efsex wife of James Efsex George Wingrove Isaac Wingrove and Charlotte Soames the sum of five
Pounds each for [     ] I give and bequeath unto Mary [Molout] Catherine [Molout]
Eleanor [Molout] and Emma [Molout] the sum of ten pounds each for [     ] I give and
bequeath unto James Slade of no. 13 Plough Court Ffetter Lane London and Mary his wife the
sum of ten pounds for [     ] to the said William Green the sum of twenty pounds
and to James Courley the sum of ten pounds and from and after payment of the said herein
before last mentioned legacies and the necessary expenses which maybe incurred by any
said trustees and executors upon trust to pay and devise the residue of the said principal
monies stocks funds and securities unto and amongst my sister Sarah Marshall (if
she shall then be living) Thomas Marshall son of the said Sarah Marshall my nephew
and nieces Ann Marshall Sarah Marshall Elizabeth Marshall Maria Lorry Elizabeth Holbing
Joseph Harvey John Harvey Eliosaus Harvey William Harvey the said James Beale Mary
Pennyfather widow of my late brother Joseph Pennyfather my nephews Richard Pennfather
George Pennyfather Martha Pennyfather widow of my late brother John Pennyfather John
Pennyfather and Mary Pennyfather son and daughter of the said Martha Pennyfather in equal
shares and proportions to and for his her and their own absolute use and benefit and I do
hereby declare that my said trustees and executors and the survivor of them his executors
and administrators shall not be answerable or accountable for any loss misapplication or
non application of the said trust monies and premises unless the same shall happen through
their or his own willful default nor shall be answerable or accountable for the acts deeds or
defaults of the
other of them but each of them for his own acts deeds and defaults I do appoint my
said wife executrix and the said William Green and James Beale executors of this my last
will and testament and hereby revoking all former and other will and wills by me at any
time heretofor made declare this and this only to be my last will and testament in
witnefs whereof I the said testator Edward Pennyfather have to this my last will and
testament contained in one sheet of paper set my hand and seal this sixth day of May
in the year one thousand eight hundred and thirty six Edward Pennyfather
signed sealed published and declared by the said testator Edward Pennyfather as and for his
last will and testament in the presence of us who in his presence and in the presence of
each other and at his request have hereunto subscribed our names and witnefses James

Proved at London 13th Oct 1843 before the worshipful Herbert Thomas Pratt doctor of law
and surrogate by the oaths of Joyce Filt Pennyfather widow the [rolitt] William Green and
James Beal (in the will written Beale) the exors to whom [     ] was granted having been first sworn 
duly to administrator
