From David Pennefather's history:
(W9) DANIEL PENNEFATHER, second son of (W5) Edward Pennefather of
Marlow and Mary Mansergh, was baptised, 2/3/1826, Church of St John the
Evangelist, Clonoulty, Tipperary. (At his wedding in 1854 Daniel gave his
age as 24 years. There is an inconsistency here.) Lieutenant Daniel
Pennefather of the 40th Regiment of Foot arrived in Melbourne, Australia
aboard HMS Vulcan on 5/11/1852. In 1854 he married Miss Elizabeth Sarah
Curr aged 21. He was Protestant and she was R.C. A Catholic wedding
ceremony was held in Melbourne on 22/1/1854 and a Protestant ceremony
was held on 28/1/1854. Some time after 1870 Daniel left his family in
Australia while he returned to Ireland where he died being buried in St
Patricks Rock, Cashel, 21/11/1894. Had issue:
(D1) Edward Cecil, born 1857 St Kilda
(D2) Gerald. Known as “Jed”, born at sea 1858.
(D3) Reginald Walter, born 1860.
(D4) Hugh Claud, born Melbourne 1863.
(D5) Wilfred Ernest, born 1868 Married Marian Putnam, 1897. DSP.
